This cartoon is based on the theme that beggars can’t be choosers. This rat is asking another rat in a similar situation as him for the best cheeses. Even though they are both rats and are not in the best living conditions. This rat is asking for the most extravagant cheese but won’t do any of his own work. In the real world many people are like this. They are so dependent on other people, yet they still want the most expensive and best quality things when they don’t give any value and are just leeching off of other people. In my own life I have met many people like this. The most memorable one that I have ever met was this kid at junior lifeguards. It was the last day and since the last day is a full day my friends and I decided to get food. We were all walking back and this kid invited himself. We first went to Trader Joe’s and while we were getting snacks he revealed to the group that he had no money. We decided to take pity on him and paid for his snacks for him. After we spent a small fortune on his snacks and drinks we went to the restaurants for lunch. We got food and also had to pay for his lunch. While we paid for his food out of the kindness in our hearts, this kid still had the gall to start hinting he wanted a frappuccino from Starbucks while we were all eating. All of us had tried to ignore him, but he kept trying to bring it up even more bluntly after we had finished our food. That was the point where we had to flat out say no to him. There was no Starbucks in the nearby vicinity and no one else had wanted coffee since we were all stuff and had half a day of working out left. This kid had wanted us to drive to Starbucks near the end of our break just for him to get a drink he couldn’t even pay for. We ended up flat out saying no and driving back to our beach. Even after we said no he kept complaining even though he had his caffeine fix from his kombucha that we had bought for him earlier. Just like the rat in the cartoon, this kid had kept asking and asking for the best even though he had nothing to offer. This ultimately is just people with the means to do something simply refuse to do it and leech off of other people.
